What can play on Mac OS X?

Video

QuickTime movies and older MPEG-4 and MPEG-1 files play well, and DVDs work too. We re-encode modern files to a format that plays smoothly.

Images and slideshows

JPEG, PNG, GIF, and TIFF open fine. Send slides as images, a PDF, or a QuickTime movie rather than a modern PowerPoint or Keynote file.

Documents and web pages

PDFs, plain text, and simple old-style HTML pages work. Modern websites and web apps won’t load.

Apps and demos

Current software can’t run on this hardware. To show your app, send a screen recording or mockups, or use the green screen option.

Please send your files a few days before your shoot so we can test them.

What can appear on the iMac G4 display?

You can choose a green screen for CGI or bring compatible files on USB for practical, in-camera playback. Share the look you want when booking so we can prepare the right setup.

Can you play a modern video file?

Modern files may need to be re-encoded for smooth playback. QuickTime movies, older MPEG-1 or MPEG-4 files, and DVDs are supported; send your files a few days before the shoot so they can be tested.

Can the iMac G4 run my current app or website?

Current software and modern websites will not run on this computer. For a live-looking demo, provide a screen recording or mockups, or choose the green-screen option.

Are speakers available with the iMac G4?

The speakers and Harman Kardon iSub are available as free add-ons. Mention them when arranging your rental.
